VANILLA SYRUP RECIPE


HOW TO MAKE VANILLA SYRUP RECIPE
Ingredients:

  • 1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise

  • 2 cups granulated sugar

  • 1 1/2 cups water

  • 1 tablespoon light brown sugar

VANILLA SYRUP RECIPE:

  1. Scrape seeds from vanilla bean; place seeds and bean in a small bowl.

  2. Combine granulated sugar and remaining ingredients in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.

  3. Reduce heat; simmer 10 minutes. Remove from heat.

  4. Add vanilla bean and seeds, stirring gently. Cool syrup to room temperature.

  5. Pour syrup and vanilla bean into a glass container. Cover and chill.

    Note: Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.

Yields about 2 1/4 cups. Enjoy!
 



MAKE ORANGE VANILLA SORBET

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 vanilla bean

  • 1 1/2 c freshly squeezed cara cara orange juice

  • 1 table spoon cara cara orange zest

Steps to make Orange Vanilla Sorbet:

  1. Combine sugar, water, and vanilla bean in a small-to-medium saucepan, stirring occasionally until sugar dissolves.

  2. Bring to a boil. Cool and remove vanilla bean (to hasten cooling, place the syrup in a bowl, and place the bowl in another bowl filled with a mixture of ice and water).

  3. Combine about 1 cup sugar syrup with the citrus juice. Taste and add more syrup if necessary. Stir in the zest.

  4. Refrigerate until cool if necessary, then churn in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.
